I am writing a novel and illustrating it. The characters below are Miakai-cat, Kiala-girl in the center, Ryu-boy with the ribbon, and Koji-long haired bishi on the right. To see more of these characters, please follow the links below.

I started this as an experiment in drawing this angle and in drawing clothes that loosly fit... with Just Kiala, but when I finished her, the picture seemed to need more, so I drew Koji... but then I thought that wasn't right, we needed something to balance out the picture, and besides, Ryu would be jealous of Koji getting to lounge around with Kiala, so I drew Ryu as well, and then while I was at it, I added Miakai. I had to attach an extra piece of paper to fit everything right. IT was fun, and I did it while doing other things, sort of a way to pass the time, and now it is finished. I rather like it, though there isn't really anything to it. Hope you all like it too. ^__^

How this image fits the theme of Fragile Dreams
This is mostly for the benefit of the judges because those who watch me already know the story at least a little. The theme is fragile dreams.

My novel is a romance, action, comedy, fantasy adventure. The basic gist of the story pertaining to this contest is that Kiala and Ryu are childhood friends and sort of sweet hearts when a war starts. Miakai is their companion btw. When the war starts, Ryu is called into action, and Kiala follows. She disguises herself so no one knows she is a girl, and fights along side him. Being that it is a war a lot of things happen to them and their sense of peace and happiness get shattered pretty completely as they both suffer from their own dissalusionment.

Koji is actually only part human, he was around long before, and his background story is that he lost the love of his life long ago, and later, his family (which were royalty) ended up fighting amongst themselves (brother killing brother) over the possession of a treasure known as the fate stone. The fate stone offers the user a chance to reshape the world into the user's dreams, but this of course is vary dangerous because it not only reads the good in a person's heart, but the darkness as well. Koji, knowing this, stole the fate stone and disappeared.

Back to Kiala and Ryu. Ryu learns about the fate stone and seeks it out. He wants to make the world a better place, so that the war will never have happened. He meets Koji and they fight, but before the battle is finished, they get interrupted. Ryu, seriously injured, leaves, planning to try again. Kiala pretty much finds out what is happening and goes to confront Koji... but the two of them connect in a way that neither expected. Kiala's fire reminds Koji of his first love.

At first, Koji is the main antagonist, but over time, that changes. In the battles, Ryu receives a head injury that causes him to loose much of his memory, and as a testament to how much the relationship changed, Koji decides to help him find himself again, while Kiala falls into sadness at having lost him.

A lot more happens of course, but as you can sort of get from this much, the opportunity to just lay together, not worrying about anything is a rare and fleeting thing, but during that time, they all have a change to dream about how the world could have and should have been. This scene is like a fragile dream, that can all too easily be broken by the ways of the world.
