Empress line art

Description

This is the line art for the picture I am working on for an OC contest. One of the rules is that it needed to be a new character, so I decided on drawing Yahciil (pronounced yah as in "yawn", and ciil as in seal) the leader of the tiger clan of the Samo-Yan empire. The tiger clan is the ruling clan, and so she is the empress of the Samo-Yan empire. I wanted it to look like she was in middle of crossing her legs. Her clothes were tricky to design too because in the book I describe the Samo-Yan ceremonial wear as ribbons that wrap around the wearer that gradually flow into a dress. The effect of which is that you can't tell for sure where the ribbon part stops and the dress part begins. It is such an elaborate garment that you require three assistants to put it on. Fortunately, it is easier to get it off, because after a long day of ceremonies, no one wants to have to stand around while people help you undo your clothes for a couple hours. Yack!

Anyway, I thought I would put up the line art so anyone in the color-me-club could have fun with it. ^__^

First off there is a lot going on in this picture which takes you longer to take in an digest. This isn't bad though since you are making the viewer stay longer to look at your art.

Yahciil: I really like her design, you can really sense the spirit of the tiger in her, by how she is positioned and the way she is looking at you. She seems like a very powerful being.
Her clothes look like they were very difficult to draw but you did a great job with them. The folds and the crises all look like they are in the right place. So I don't think any work needs to be done there.
Her anatomy I don't see any major flaws, I read that you wanted to make it look like she was repositioning her legs so that's why she's in that awkward pose. You did a nice job with that though, I can tell that she is readjusting her legs so you succeed. Her arm look a bit scrawny to be though...maybe because her bust is quiet large and could give the illusion that they are scrawny...don't know why. Over all I think she is beautifully designed.

Background: The back ground is gorgeous!! With all the drapery and the fancy chair, man I wish I could do back
grounds like these. I really like the background and I can't wait to see the color version.

Beautiful job on this piece.
