Alchemist Prize Art

Description

This is the prize art for *Darya87 as part of the prize package for winning my coloring contest. This is her original LARP character, Nes. She is an alchemist, and you can see what she looks like here: [link].
I hope I got the details right. It was a bit of a fun challenge to draw this, as I have not done a lot of drawing real people portraying a character, and I found it a new kind of balance to aim for since I was trying to make it look like the character, not the real person playing the part… and in a slightly stylized way on top of that… but I am pretty happy with how it came out. Enjoy.

The variations of thin and think lines emphasizes the ephemeral world the alchemist works in. My two biggest "complaints" (and I say that in quotes because I don't really complain as much as give constructive comments) is that for a work called "The Alchemist" I didn't see a lot of traditional alchemical symbols, like labels on bottles, scrolls, her clothes, the air, etc.

My second is her gaze: First, she's not *quite* looking at you, but she doesn't seem to be looking "at" anyone or anything else either - more over your head and behind you. Pair that with the fact that she's pouring something. I don't know about you, but if I'm pouring, and something distracts me, I'm looking very intently at it, not gazing off into space or daydreaming!

Overall however, I think it's a very nice piece, and I'm sure the winner loved it. Your faces are drawn very well, given the style, which I liked. There are a couple of "boo-boo's" if you look at it long enough (which artists tend to do) but they don't detract from the piece. Nice work, you definitely have talent and potential.
